Maya was drawing this morning and came up to me with a drawing she had done of me. I love it.

School Vacation
Wow, it is so nice to not have to rush out of the house in the morning. Maybe I will keep them home forever!

Really?
Allie was playing on the computer today and saw a cartoon with a conversation bubble. The bubble contained only a question mark. Allie said, "oh look, he has a mystery coming out his nose..." I guess it is good she can recognize punctuation, and she knows she needs to find something out.

What Do You Get When You Leave Four Year old Unattended?
Christmas Pictures?
I guess I never posted the pictures of the girls on Christmas morning. We do one picture at the top of the stairs before we go down to see what Santa brought. I do this every year and love to see how they have caanged over the years. Maya didn't understand this and thought she had to stay upstairs. Lilly and Allie explained about the ritual and then she was fine. This is the series of events in pictures.

On the Mend
We've moved on from fevers to coughing. Everyone is cranky, cryish, coughy and generally unreasonable. I can't wait until spring.

Sickness, 103.6 Fever and Hallucinations
I knew it was coming. Lilly and Allie succumbed to it, and I knew it was only a matter of time before Maya did too. It happened at 1:00 this morning. I heard Maya screaming, "there's a police officer in my room!! There's a police officer in my room!!!!" She sounded frantic, and knowing full well that there were in fact no police officers in her room, I figured she must be dreaming (as I rushed full speed to her room). I got there, and she was wide awake, pointing to the space behind the door (which was mostly closed before I came in) yelling about the police officer. I showed her that the was not anyone there and she calmed down. Slightly. I got into bed with her to calm her down, and she felt about as hot as the sun. She continued talking about the dragons and clouds that were on her ceiling, pointing them out to me when I didn't see them. They weren't there. I figured that she must be hallucinating due to her fever, so I gave her Motrin and Gatorade and stayed with her until she was nearly asleep. The whole time I was in there, she kept telling me about all of the things she was seeing and couldn't believe I couldn't see them. "Right there" she would say and point. I finally started playing along, and things went much more smoothly, plus it was interesting to hear about what she was seeing, at the same time being pretty nervous about her visions. Eventually she cleared up and saw nothing unusual, but it was quite a night. Now the sick kid total is three. I knew it was on it's way.
